Tsetang (Zetang), the birthplace of earliest Tibetans, sits
on the south bank in the middle section of the Yarlung
Tsangbo River Traduk Monastery is one of the earliest
Buddhist temples in Tibetan history. Built in 641 A.D., it
is said that King Songtsan Gampo established the temple to
suppress the ogress in order to prosper his country. And
later it became the winter palace of King Songtsan Gampo and
Princess Wencheng in Shannan. Samye is another visited
destination of Tibet where in mid-8th century, Samye is the
first formal Buddhist Monastery with the Buddha Dharma and
Sangha in Tibet. The whole construction of the monastery,
for the stupas forest-like, the building high and expansive,
the scale grand and broad, is designed in accordance with
the shape of "mandala" layout, and furthermore, the
monastery is well-known to the whole world for the
highlighted and mixed perfection of Han, Tibetan and Indian
architecture style in the main hall and the numerous relics
such as wood and stone carvings, frescos and statues kept in
the monastery. As described in a historical book, this
monastery is considered "an unimaginable construction and
incomparable monastery". Your journey will not end until you
reach to friendship border. Before arriving here, you will
pass through one of the world’s highest passes like Karo-La
Pass, Khambala Pass and beautiful Yamdrok Tso Lake. On the
way, you will get an opportunity to view Mt. Everest on the
clear day. |

Day
01: |
Fly Kathmandu to Lhasa. Drive to
Tsedang (3100 m).
Fly to Lhasa, about 1 hour flight
offer panoramic Himalayan views
including Mt. Everest. And other
mountains ranges. Pick up from
Gonggar airport, after finished
immigration formalities it takes
about 1 hour 30 minutes drive along
93 km road leading to Lhasa. It is
advisable to rest in Hotel.

Day 02:

Visit Tombs of ancient Tibetan
Kings, Yambulakhang, Traddruk
Monastery.
Visit Yambulakhanga and ancient
tombs. It is situated about 12 km
south of Tsedang, It is the first
palace built by the Tibet and for
their
first recorded king Nyatri Tsedpo,
who is believed to have descended
from heaven. It is a 05 storied
fortress-like dwelling built on the
spur
of a bill that commands an
impressive view of the entire
fertile valley. It was destroyed
during the Cultural Revolution and
the present
structure is an exact replica of the
original rebuilt 1982. The tombs are
massive knolls of earth with flat
top-like platforms. There are eight
or nine tombs among which some have
been identified with Kings Songtsen
Gampo, Tride Tsukten and Trisong
Detsen. Later, visit
Tradduk Monastery. It is established
by King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th
century and belonging to the Gelugpa
Sect (Order of Excellence),
the main building is the Assembly
Hall. The images enshrined here are
all bronze and the corridors are
full of murals.

Day 03:

Drive to Samye and continue to
Xigatse (3900 m).
Drive to Samye (45 km approx). It is
known as the first monastery ever
built in Tibet. It was founded by
the Tibetan King Trisiong Detsen
and belongs to the Nyingmapa and
Sakyapa sects. The construction
consists of three styles, namely,
the Han, the Tibetan and the Indian.
It is said that the monastery was
destroyed by fire and was rebuilt
for three hundred years as the
residence of the 6th Dalai Lama.
Finally,
Rating Rimpoche completed it. Then,
we continue our journey to Shigatse
(390 km, 9 hours). On reaching,
transfer to the hotel.

Day 04:

Visit Tashilunpo Monastery. Drive to
Gyantse (3950 m). Visit Kumbum Stupa
and Phalkor Monastery.
In the morning, visit Tashilunpo
Monastery. It is the seat of Panchen
Lama. Each year, there is a display
of a gigantic thangkas of Buddha
will on its Thangka Wall. Beside the
trove of thangkas, its murals and
other religious and artistics
treasures certainly will impose an
indelible impression upon visitors.
You will also pay a visit to the New
Palace of Panchen. Then, drive to
Gyantse (100 km, 2 hours
approx). Before checking in to the
hotel, visit Kumbum Stupa and
Phalkor Chode Monastery. The Phalkor
Monastery, the only monastery
that houses monks from different
rders (Gelupa, Sakyapa and Kahdampa)
in harmony. Phalkor also features
its Bodhi Stupa or Kumbum
Stupa, which consists of hundreds of
chapels in layers, housing about a
hundred thousand images of Buddha,
so it is called Myriad
Buddha’s Stupa as well. Then, we
check in to the hotel.

Day 05:

Drive to Lhasa (3660 m). Check in at
hotel.
In the morning, your guide and
driver will accompany you to Lhasa
(250 km, 5 hours approx.), a capital
city of Tibet. On the way there, you
will visit one of the holiest lakes
in Tibet, a pilgrimage site, The
Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, which is
compared as “the fairyland in
heaven” by
Tibetans. You will also have view of
the Karola Snow Mountain. On
arrival, transfer to the hotel.

Day 06:

Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple
& Barkhor Market.
Today, you will visit the important
places of Lhasa. The overwhelming
Potala Palace is your first stop. As
the symbol of Tibet, the Palace
was built in 641 AD and the winter
palace of Dalai Lama who is Tibet’s
pope. Impressive Tibetan
architecture, huge golden Buddha
statues, red-robed lamas and devoted
pilgrims all make it a must-visit.
Later, you will visit the age-old
Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center
of Tibet, and walk the special
circular pilgrim route as local
followers always do at the Barkhor
Street.

Day 07:

Visit Drepung, Sera Monastery &
Norbulingka.
After breakfast, you will tour the
charming Norbulingka Park, which is
known as "the Summer Palace of
Tibet", and then come to Drepung
Monastery, an ancient temple once
housed 10,000 monks in its heyday.
You tour ends at Sera Monastery.
Built in 1419, the monastery is
one of the three largest monasteries
in Tibet and famous for its Buddhism
Scriptures Debates.
